We are easy to find in the small Hamlet of Polladras. Just a short drive from Helston. Follow the signs for Carleen or Breage and you will soon be with us.
Lena May’s Meadow is a simple wild camping site with basic essential amenities, tucked away on a peaceful field close to Helston in Cornwall. In fact, it’s so peaceful here that the birdsong is deafening. You’ll have plenty of space to yourselves as there are only a few large well-spaced pitches available.
Access to the camping field is up a narrow, unmade lane, with free parking. Cars stay in the parking area, please, to avoid damage to the site. We provide wheelbarrows so you can transport all your gear easily, and ask that you use headphones to listen to music to avoid noise impact on local wildlife (remember those birds?) and also it doesn’t interfere with your fellow campers.
There are plenty of areas to explore as we have a very central location so it's easy to reach Porthleven, Helston, Hayle and St Ives, Penzance and Lands' End, or you can walk along old mining tracks from the site to the Top of Tregonning Hill. On a clear day you have 360-degree views of Cornwall from the top. Long-distance hikers can be yomping on the South West Coast Path in 15 minutes. Where not far along the coast, at Rinsey, you can find Wheal Prosper Mine clinging to the cliffs. Poldark Mine (20 minutes’ drive) is one of the few open for tours by the way.
A short drive takes you to Porthleven, with its fishing pier and beach, plus a well-known seafront pub and a whole range of takeaways and Restaurants. You can also pick up essentials from the handy stores in Helston (both 10 minutes).
We are a dog friendly site and welcome well-behaved dogs all season.
BBQs/Firepits are allowed.
The accent is on getting back to nature and wild life, you may well wake up to a local Pheasant strutting in your pitch. In the late evening, if it's very quiet, you can hear the Barn Owls hooting to each other around the valley.
