We are on the edge of the Forest of Dean on the A48 halfway between Lydney and Chepstow in the Forest of Dean
Sheephouse Campsite is a beautiful site with fantastic facilities. We are well placed to allow access to all the attractions and activities to be found in the beautiful Forest of Dean, as well as the historic town of Chepstow and the surrounding areas.
The camping area is all laid to grass, with no set pitches. This allows flexibility for family groups and friends to camp together.
We have a small play area for children with a climbing frame and slide. We have a games room with a table tennis table and a pool table (free to play). There is a sofa and chairs along with USB charging points, so that you can relax while your phone is charging. The games room is a useful place to go on your stay if the weather is not so good. There are some books to read or board games to play in-between taking part in other activities around the Forest.
There is a kitchen area for campers to use for washing up. This has a freezer for freezer blocks, an electric kettle. There is also a table and chairs, again with charging points, so that you can make yourself a drink and sit comfortable while you charge your phone here.
Free Wifi is available which covers the buildings at the campsite and most of the camping field.
There are male and female toilet facilities The showers are included in the pitch fee. These are at a set temperature, this is to ensure that they are safe for children.
We try not to have too many rules and so we do not have arrival and departure times. You are welcome arrive as early as you would like on the day of your arrival and to stay a bit longer on the day of your departure. We feel this makes for a more relaxed holiday for our campers.
We are 3 miles from the newly opened Wye Valley Greenway cycle and walking route between Chepstow and Tintern which passes through the amazing Tidenham tunnel.
There are numerous activities and places of interest to visit in the area. From cycling, walking, and climbing, to visiting castles, caves, lakes and the amazing Puzzlewood, which has been used in many films and tv series as a location.
The local has numerous farm shops and eateries and pubs with excellent local produce.
