Dog Hill Scout and Community Campsite is an affiliated Scout campsite set in 11 acres on the picturesque Crompton Moor. Since around 2005 the campsite has been slowly renovated with financial help from fundraising activities, grants and donations. The progress we have made would never have been possible without the hard work and help that we have received from volunteers, friends and family members.
Mike Williamson (Warden) has been responsible for leading these renovations and improvements and the site now boasts two flat level camping areas capable of holding around 10 two-man tents, and in the wider area of the campsite there are other areas including in the woods where camping is possible. In total the campsite can accommodate around 30 two-man tents.
The campsite also has its own traditional campfire built in a pit with dry stone brick walls where guests enjoy socialising and enjoying the atmosphere.
The campsite has a number of assault course type of attractions such as a Rope Bridge, Log balancing, and more recently we are in the progress of installing a new Zip Line that will be a fantastic addition the existing fun attractions.
The campsite holds regular social events throughout the year such as Bonfire Night, Enacting Groups (5 times a year) etc. and the site also has its own Bunkhouse where you will find an old traditional log burning stove, bunk beds and kitchen. We also have a wood burning Pizza Oven.
The Scout and Community Campsite is what the title says it is, as it is open and accessible not just to the scouting community but also to the wider public community. We have regular visitors from around the country and even abroad.
