The land around North Yorkshire's Breaks Fold Farm is so stunningly scenic that it's often used by directors from the small screen: Emmerdale and DCI Banks have both been filmed in this lush locality in the spectacular Washburn Valley within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
If you're coming to this stunning area for hikes, the farm is close to all levels of them in the Yorkshire Dales National Park; for old old structures, famed Yorkshire highlights like Fountains Abbey and Pateley Bridge are easily reached, and for towns and cities, pubs and shopping, Harrogate, Skipton, York, Ripon, Ilkley and Leeds are all well placed to get to from here: as friendly owner Richard says, there are absolutely loads of things to do within a 20-minute drive.
A quiet and family-run farm, Breaks Fold overlooks Thruscross Reservoir and has easy access to the cycling and fishing of the valley as well as more hikes around the woods and the water. The 3 dales trail can be picked nearby and the farm is within reach of 6 reservoirs all with fantastic walking and cycling routes. It's a simple but clean and well-maintained site, with toilets and free hot showers as well as the facilities for ice pack freezing and gadget charging. The site gives a real family feeling and the owners pride themselves on offering outstanding customer service.
The camp site consists of a 4 acre field split into a main field and overflow area. Firepits are available to hire on arrival for an authentic camping experience. The CL for the caravans is located up near the farm house and shares the stunning views that the valley has to offe, each with a serviced pitch with drinking water, electric hook up and grey water disposal. Within the farm house there is The Old Peat House guest room, with its own private entrance, featuring a 5 bar gate bed. Please see the farm's website for further details and for online booking.
