Here at Westdown Farm we are set in 92 beautiful acres of unspoiled farmland in the idyllic countryside of West Devon.
This is an ideal place for the photographers and wildlife enthusiasts among you as we have over 30 species of butterfly and our fields are rich in wild flowers and grasses. Be sure to bring your camera with you.
Westdown Farm is also home to our Pedigree herd of British Longhorn Cattle who manage the land by grazing. (don’t worry they are not running wild). This helps maintain the diversity of the flora, consequently helping the butterfly to thrive.
With a small herd of Goats, you can say hello to our friendly bunch. They are only too happy to have their picture taken with you!
If you would like a personal educational nature tour around the farm, we are more than welcome to provide this service (free of charge) just ask for a nature tour on arrival.
Westdown is approximately 500ft above sea level, with views of Dartmoor from one side of the farm, and on a clear day, views of Exmoor, we are not short of some beautiful scenery.
We can accommodate traditional campers and caravanners in our CL Campsite where you can enjoy waking up to a stunning view every morning.
Alternatively, you can enjoy ‘Wild Camping’ where you can get back to nature in our unspoiled secluded areas. Each ‘Wild Camping’ pitch is more than 30 metres away from another. We allow small contained ground fires so you can just sit and relax while you stare into the many fascinating colours of its flames.
Glamping accommodation.
We have 2 beautiful Bell Tents, these will sleep a maximum of 5 and a stunning Teepee this will sleep a maximum of 4.our Glamping units are fully furnished and equipped for all your glamping needs. Each unit has a comfortable Double bed in, and additional beds are blowup beds. Within all of these pitches you can enjoy the natural wonders of a night’s sky with no light pollution.
We are a ‘dog friendly’ campsite but all furry friends must be kept on leads to ensure safety of other campers and of course the livestock that live on the farm. (Unfortunately, we ensure a ‘no dog’s’ policy when booking a ‘Wild Camping’ pitch.

Jen Sumner 10/06/2018 5/5 My 9 year old Son and I had an amazing time camping for 5 nights at westdown farm. The campsite was lovely and clean. We visited Bude beach twice and Dawlish Warren. It is in a great location far enough away to be quiet. Simmons park close by and hatherleigh too. The weather was a little overcast on one afternoon so we went up the road to Ruby Lodge and attended the family fun swim. We had a fab holiday and did lots of fun things. The manager of the campsite couldn't do enough for us. The farm was lovely and she gave us a tour. The owner also introduced us to all the cows, gosts and dogs on the farm and let us pat the goats. The toilets and showers were an added bonus. We hired a fire bin for 3 nights and stated lovely and cosy in front of the log fire till late. A great place and a great holiday. My Son and I will definitely be returning next year. We couldn't have asked for anything more for our camping trip. Heather Anderton 09/01/2018 5/5 We had an excellent stay back in August. Lovely farm, with great views of the surrounding countryside. The family were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The pitch was good and we were able to hire a fire pit. Great place, highly recommended. Mick Harris 08/01/2018 5/5 Well what can I say, what a fantastic peacful campsite beautiful views across the country side and lovely walks. The site has toilets, showers, fresh water points and elsan disposal point. You can also hire a fire pit and a bag of logs to have a fire to sit around in the evening. Which we did it was wonderful to sit around having a bear or a glass of wine. The site owner runs a small farm with some cattle and goats, and also some fishing lakes. They even took time out of there busy day to take our grandchildren to stroke the goats and see the cows. This was our second visit to the site and will definitely be going to stay again. I would highly recommend this beautiful site. Karen Harris 08/01/2018 5/5 What can I say it’s a wonderful place to stay, we have visited here for the last 2 years and have had brilliant times. We were looking for a real wild camping experience and Westdown farm did not disappoint!
The owners were lovely, helpful and friendly.
Our spot in the woods was secluded and just what we wanted.
We were free to roam the farm and able to pet the animals if we wanted.
Brilliant place to make memories with the children.
Toilets were spotless,we were even offered the use of the owners shower, although we had great fun making our own.
Perfect place to go off grid and get away from modern life.
We can't wait to come back in October!!
